Certificate Holder

A certificate holder is the party that receives a certificate of insurance as proof that your coverage exists. Being a certificate holder does not, by itself, give that party any rights under your policy.

How it shows up

A contract may name a party as both certificate holder and additional insured. The certificate holder simply gets the proof; the additional insured is actually added to the policy.
