Licensed Insurance Producer

Personal Lines and Small Commercial

You already understand personal insurance. You may be ready to expand into small commercial, take greater ownership of client relationships and build a meaningful book of business without starting entirely on your own.

On-site in Eugene · Schedule to be finalized

Vantage Point Risk is looking for a licensed insurance producer who wants room to grow. You will work directly with the agency owner, receive agency-generated opportunities and have the ability to develop your own clients and referral relationships.

The position begins with a guaranteed base plus commissions, giving you time to learn our systems, understand our markets and begin building a book of business. For the right person, it includes a structured path toward a higher-commission producer role as experience, production and client relationships grow.

This is an opportunity to become a stronger producer, not simply process quotes.

Build relationships, develop commercial knowledge and see the effect of your work.

This position may fit someone who wants:

  • Agency-generated personal and small-commercial opportunities
  • Direct access to the agency owner for guidance and problem-solving
  • Support developing stronger small-commercial knowledge
  • Access to multiple carrier markets
  • Responsibility for building and retaining client relationships
  • A regular schedule finalized with you during the hiring process
  • The opportunity to develop referral relationships and self-generated business
  • Guaranteed base pay plus new-business and renewal commissions
  • A structured path toward a higher-commission producer role as production and capability grow

You will have support, but you will not have someone assigning every next action. The position requires initiative, consistent follow-up and the ability to work productively in a small-office environment.

Help clients understand the decision, not just receive a price.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Responding to personal-lines and small-commercial opportunities
  • Learning what matters to each prospect before recommending coverage
  • Gathering accurate underwriting information
  • Completing applications and preparing carrier submissions
  • Comparing available carrier options
  • Explaining coverage, pricing and tradeoffs in plain language
  • Following up consistently and asking for the business
  • Binding coverage and confirming required information
  • Documenting activity in the agency management and CRM systems
  • Identifying appropriate personal and commercial cross-selling opportunities
  • Staying connected with the clients and referral partners you develop
  • Helping retain and grow the accounts you produce
  • Learning carrier appetites, underwriting requirements and agency workflows

Clear expectations and direct support.

Vantage Point Risk will provide:

  • Agency-generated opportunities
  • Direct coaching and access to agency leadership
  • Carrier and market access appropriate to the agency
  • Training on agency systems and workflows
  • Support expanding from personal lines into small commercial
  • Regular pipeline and performance conversations
  • Clear expectations for response time, documentation, follow-up and production
  • Opportunities to take on more responsibility as capability grows

The agency can provide opportunity, systems and guidance. The producer remains responsible for working the pipeline, maintaining accurate records and following opportunities through.

What success looks like

During the first 30 days

  • Learn the agency's systems, workflows and documentation standards.
  • Understand available personal-lines and small-commercial markets.
  • Respond promptly and communicate clearly.
  • Demonstrate dependable attendance and follow-through.
  • Ask questions before making assumptions about coverage or underwriting.

By 60 days

  • Manage assigned opportunities with less day-to-day direction.
  • Gather complete information and prepare accurate submissions.
  • Maintain a current, organized pipeline.
  • Conduct consistent prospect follow-up.
  • Explain common coverage options clearly.

By 90 days

  • Independently move appropriate opportunities from inquiry through decision.
  • Demonstrate reliable CRM and file documentation.
  • Show measurable sales activity and early production.
  • Identify cross-selling and relationship-development opportunities.
  • Take responsibility for missed commitments or mistakes and correct them.

Over the first year

  • Build a profitable, well-documented book of personal and small-commercial accounts.
  • Retain client relationships through proactive communication.
  • Develop greater small-commercial capability.
  • Build referral relationships and self-generated opportunities.
  • Demonstrate readiness for a larger producer role based on production, retention, account quality and ownership.

What we are looking for

Required

  • Active Oregon Property and Casualty insurance license
  • Personal-lines insurance experience
  • Clear and professional spoken and written communication
  • Strong follow-up and organizational habits
  • Ability to work on-site in Eugene, Oregon
  • Ability to maintain the consistent on-site schedule established during hiring
  • Accurate, reliable documentation
  • Comfort using and learning agency technology

Helpful, but not required in every candidate

  • Small-commercial insurance experience
  • Experience with an independent insurance agency
  • Experience using an agency management system, CRM or comparative rater
  • Existing referral relationships
  • Experience presenting coverage recommendations rather than only quoting price

Personal work habits that matter

  • You do what you say you will do.
  • You use unstructured time productively.
  • You follow up without being repeatedly reminded.
  • You ask for help when accuracy or coverage is uncertain.
  • You accept feedback and make visible adjustments.
  • You are comfortable being accountable for activity and results.
  • You can work independently without becoming disconnected from the team.
  • You care about protecting the client correctly, not simply closing the sale.

Schedule and work environment

This is an on-site position in Vantage Point Risk's dedicated agency office in Eugene, Oregon. It is not a remote or hybrid position.

The specific workdays and hours are finalized with the selected candidate during the hiring process. Once established, the regular weekly schedule stays consistent.

The position can grow in hours and responsibility as production and agency needs develop. Additional hours are not guaranteed at the time of hire.

This is a small-office environment. The right person should be comfortable working directly with the owner, managing responsibilities independently and communicating openly when something needs attention.

Compensation and growth

This position begins with a guaranteed base plus commissions on new and renewal business. The starting structure provides dependable compensation while the producer learns the agency's systems, develops market knowledge and builds a pipeline and book of business.

For the right person, the role includes a structured path toward a higher-commission producer position. Progression is based on production, retention, account quality, follow-through and the ability to develop client and referral relationships, not simply time in the position.

Specific compensation terms are discussed directly with qualified candidates and documented in the written compensation plan.

How this role helps clients

The producer helps clients identify what needs to be protected, gather accurate information, compare available options and make a clear decision.

The role is successful when:

  • The client understands what they are buying.
  • Recommendations reflect the client's actual situation.
  • Applications and agency records are accurate.
  • Follow-up is consistent and timely.
  • Coverage tradeoffs are explained honestly.
  • The agency has the information needed to support the account after the sale.

What should a candidate expect?

  1. Submit the online application, résumé and cover letter.
  2. Complete the Producer Success Assessment using the private link provided after submission. The link is valid for 24 hours.
  3. Receive an initial status update within seven business days after completing the application and assessment.
  4. Participate in an initial conversation if selected.
  5. Complete a structured interview and short insurance work sample as a finalist.
  6. Complete reference verification before a final decision.

The assessment is one part of the process. A person reviews every hiring decision.
